The TRON Lightcycle / Run Ride Experience at Walt Disney World
Once more demonstrating their capacity to combine rollercoaster speed and fast thrills, Walt Disney World continues to innovate with thrilling thrills. The Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind movie made its debut in 2017. The most recent comes from TRON Lightcycle / Run, a brand-new Magic Kingdom attraction that will open to the general public on April 4.
Park visitors enter the Grid thanks to TRON Lightcycle / Run. It is based on the science fiction Tron movies, which we heartily recommend seeing in 1982 or 2010 for a deeper understanding of the experience.
The digital creations from the franchise, known as “Programs,” will be fought by visitors, or “Users,” while riding a Lightcycle. You can learn more about these various Programs’ capabilities and successes while waiting in line. Programs are on Team Orange, while Users are on Team Blue.
The TRON Lightcycle / Run is an indoor-outdoor experience that launches you high into the air with breathtaking views of the outside world before bringing you back inside for some virtual activities. Given that the ride lasts less than 90 seconds, you’ll need to ride it numerous times to take in all the details that are whizzing past you.
The attraction itself is very dynamic, according to Kerry Milligan, Assistant Project Manager, Walt Disney Imagineering, in a recent blog post about her experience working on the project. There are so many different aspects to it, including the outside concourse, the interior line, and the various riding experiences during the day and at night. I enjoy observing everything in motion while standing on the concourse. The Tomorrowland Speedway, the Lightcycles, and even the PeopleMover are all visible as they circle the track. There is simply so much going on, and it’s all set off by this magnificent canopy, a work of architecture that enhances Space Mountain’s form.
The front row is the best place to ride to experience the full force of the ride because the coaster reaches 59 MPH and you can feel the intense rush from the moment it launches. The cool lights that illuminate the entire area will make this a very well-liked attraction at night as well. Even though the experience is significantly improved at night, it is still very exciting during the day.
After the ride, visitors can take advantage of extra TRON features like creating their own Tron action figure, buying a variety of TRON merchandise, or enjoying the new nearby restaurant Energy Bytes. The concession stand will serve Chinese dumplings, coffee, and desserts. You may wonder why Chinese dumplings. It’s a shout-out to Shanghai Disney, which opened the first TRON Lightcycle Power Run attraction in 2016 that Disney created. TRON at Disney World has been a long time coming, and the new ride definitely lives up to the hype. It is a much-appreciated addition that will strengthen Magic Kingdom’s offerings.
