Thirteen civilians injured in Russian air attack on Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian officials say

At least 13 civilians were injured, including a 15-year-old boy, late Sunday as a result of Russian air strikes on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian officials reported on Monday.

The Ukrainian Interior Ministry indicated on Telegram that rescuers worked overnight to evacuate residents from several damaged apartment buildings. Preliminary assessments suggest that Russia employed KAB guided aerial bombs in the attack.

Both Ukraine and Russia maintain they do not intentionally target civilians, yet thousands have lost their lives since the onset of the conflict following Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, with the majority being Ukrainian citizens.

Zaporizhzhia Governor Ivan Fedorov noted on Telegram that Russia launched a staggering 363 air and ground strikes across 12 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region in the past day, with the city itself serving as the administrative center.

In a video shared on Facebook, Ukraine’s emergency services captured the chaotic scene as rescuers navigated debris, worked to unblock apartment entrances, and attended to the injured outside a damaged residential building. The ongoing violence underscores the dire humanitarian situation in the region as the conflict continues to escalate.
