TCS mandates employee relocation

TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) is requiring over 2,000 employees to relocate within 15 days, leading to discontent and a formal complaint filed by the IT Union. Despite the initial trend of remote work during the pandemic, TCS is insisting on in-person work and has issued transfer notices, covering travel and accommodation costs. Employees failing to comply face disciplinary action. The sudden orders prompted 180 employees to seek assistance from NITES, claiming the company is compelling them to shift without adequate notice or consultation. The IT Union has officially lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Labour and Employment, citing “unethical transfer practices.” Additionally, a recent bomb threat at a TCS office in Bengaluru, perpetrated by a disgruntled former employee, adds to the company’s challenges.
