To commemorate this special occasion, the actress posted a picture of her 18-year-old self on social media, reminiscing about the day and expressing gratitude to her fans for their love and support.

In the photo, Sushmita is seen wearing a white dress with the ‘Miss Universe’ sash over her shoulder, holding a toddler in her arms and smiling. Alongside the picture, Sushmita wrote a note: “This little girl, whom I met in an orphanage, taught an 18-year-old me life’s most innocent yet profound lessons, ones that I live by to this day. This captured moment is 30 years old today, as is India’s first-ever victory at Miss Universe!!! (sic).”

The ‘Main Hoon Na’ actor continued, “What a journey it’s been and continues to be… Thank you, India, for always being my greatest identity and strength! Thank you, Philippines, for the unending love and sense of belonging… Three decades and counting! #mahalkita. I remember and celebrate your grace, my beautiful @carogomezfilm #teamo.”

Celebrating her achievement, Sushmita Sen expressed her gratitude to her fans, highlighting the difference their love has made in her life. “To all my beloved fans, friends, family, and well-wishers around the world—know that each one of you has made a difference to my life and inspired me in ways you may never know! I feel the love! Thank you! WHAT AN HONOR!” the 48-year-old actor added.

When Sushmita shared her post on Instagram, many users flooded her with love and compliments. One user wrote, “@sushmitasen47 India may find another Miss Universe, but finding another Sushmita Sen is impossible.” Another added, “@sushmitasen47 you will always be remembered as the most relatable Miss Universe.”

Sushmita Sen first entered the Miss India pageant in 1994, competing against Aishwarya Rai, and won the title. In a previous interview, Sushmita mentioned that she nearly withdrew her application after discovering Aishwarya was participating, but her mother persuaded her to stay in the competition.

Sushmita recounted, “My mother said, ‘Okay, fine, let her win. If you believe she’s the world’s most beautiful, then lose to her. What’s the point of losing to someone else? Go give it your best shot.'”

In terms of her career, Sushmita was most recently seen in the Disney+ Hotstar series ‘Aarya’.
