South Africa beat well spirited USA in first super 8 match!

Despite a power-packed partnership between Andries Gous (80*) and Harmeet Singh (38) the United States fell 18 runs short of the 194 posted by South Africa in Antigua during the Group 2 Super-8 T20 World Cup match. For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers, snapping three wickets in his quota of four overs.

Quinton de Kock blazed a 26-ball half-century as he put the USA under all kinds of pressure early on. South Africa ended up crossing 100 inside 10 overs in Antigua after the USA won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Americans then pulled things back and yet, South Africa managed to put up a score of 194/4 in their 20 overs.

De Kock’s knock ended in the 13th over on 74 off 40 to Harmeet Singh and the spinner ended up dismissing the dangerous David Miller for a golden duck after that. Captain Markram scored 46 in 32 before falling to Saurabh Netravalkar after which Heinrich Klaasen and Tristan Stubbs got South Africa past 190.

In response, U.S. opener Andries Gous (80 not out) provided the fireworks along with Harmeet Singh (38) down the order but fast bowler Rabada picked up crucial wickets in his spell of 3-18 and restricted the run rate as the U.S. fell short.
