Here is a rare book that tells the life of Sheela, the most famous actress in Malayalam cinema. There is no other actress in the history of cinema who has been in the acting industry for six decades and holds the world record for the most number of films with the same hero. Sheela’s life story is also the story of an era of Malayalam cinema, which has proved its talent in different fields such as film star, director, painter and writer. The book is published by DC Books, Kottayam, Kerala in India.


Sheela (Original name Sheela Celine), born on March 22, 1945, is an Indian actress and director known for her work in Malayalam cinema. Paired with Prem Nazir, they hold the Guinness World Record for acting in 130 films together. Sheela has won the Kerala State Film Award four times and the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2005 for “Akale.” In 2019, she received the J C Daniel Award for outstanding contribution to Malayalam cinema. Born in a Syrian Christian family, she began her film career at 17 with the Tamil film “Paasam.” She acted in over 475 films across multiple languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and Urdu.


She directed two films in the 1970s and 1980s and returned to acting in 2003 with “Manassinakkare.” She holds the Guinness World Record for the highest number of films with Prem Nazir and has received various awards, including the Lux award and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement award. After retiring in 1983, she returned to acting, winning accolades for her performances.
