Bholaa, which stars Ajay Devgn, was eventually released on March 30 and is doing okay at the box office. The movie, which is a remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s 2019 Tamil film Kaithi, was also directed by the outstanding actor. Bollywood Hungama has learned that the creators of Bholaa and Kaithi came to a new agreement on the sale of the remake rights, which deviates from the customary practise.

According to a source who spoke to Bollywood Hungama, “Typically, the Hindi film producer purchases the rights from the producer of the South film for a lump sum payment. The South producer might also co-produce the remake in some cases, as was the case with Shehzada (2023), Jersey (2022), Ghajini (2008), etc. In contrast, S R Prakashbabu and S R Prabhu, who produced Kaithi, did not demand a specific sum of money in exchange for the rights to Bholaa. Instead, they’ve agreed to a profit-sharing arrangement.
“S R Prakashbabu and S R Prabhu would receive 5% of the profit of the remake,” the insider stated. This covers both theatrical and extra-theatrical earnings, such as those from the sale of music, satellite, and digital rights. That Dream Warrior Pictures, the production company run by S R Prakashbabu and S R Prabhu, is named on the posters and that their logo appears at the beginning of the movie is not surprising.
“It’s hard to say if this is the first occasion, but it’s definitely an uncommon setup for a remake film,” the insider continued.
Bholaa also stars Tabu, Amala Paul, Deepak Dobriyal, Vineet Kumar, and Gajraj Rao in addition to Ajay Devgn. It depicts the tale of a guy who, after serving ten years in prison, is finally allowed to leave and is getting ready to meet his daughter for the first time. He is asked to help a hapless police officer on a perilous mission. The main focus of the movie is how he handles the difficulties throughout the night.
