Sam Altman heads Microsoft’s AI.

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella announced that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman would lead a new advanced AI research team at Microsoft, expressing excitement about their contribution and committing to providing the necessary resources for their success. In response, Altman stated, “The mission continues.” Nadella welcomed Altman as the CEO of the new group, emphasizing Microsoft’s history of allowing independent identities and cultures within the company.

 

Regarding Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI, Nadella affirmed the commitment to the collaboration and expressed confidence in OpenAI’s product roadmap and innovation. He mentioned looking forward to working with Emmett Shear and OpenAI’s new leadership team. Altman’s recent removal as CEO of OpenAI was highlighted, with Shear, Twitch co-founder, announced as his successor. Nadella confirmed Shear’s appointment as OpenAI’s CEO in the X post.
