Renowned Mollywood Director Siddique Passes Away Due to Heart Attack”

Prominent Mollywood filmmaker Siddique, who was 69 years old, breathed his last in Kochi while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. His demise marks the end of a remarkable journey in the world of cinema.

Siddique, born in 1956 to Ismayil Rawther and Sainaba in Kaloor, Ernakulam, made his directorial debut in 1989 with the hit Malayalam film ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’. His directorial ventures were not only commercially successful but also acclaimed for their storytelling.

Apart from his directorial prowess, Siddique showcased his versatility by stepping in front of the camera as an actor. His dedication and skill led him to win the Mammootty Best Actor Award for his portrayal of a judge on “Asianet”.

The beginning of his cinematic journey saw him as an assistant to renowned filmmaker Fazil in 1983. It was during this time that he collaborated with Lal, and together, they ventured into directing, giving birth to a series of popular and well-loved Malayalam films, including ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’, ‘In Harihar Nagar’, ‘God Father’, ‘Vietnam Colony’, and ‘Kabuliwalah’.

Siddique’s impact extended beyond the borders of Malayalam cinema as he explored and succeeded in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu film industries as well. His directorial finesse was evident in movies like ‘Chronic Bachelor’, ‘Bodyguard’ (both in Malayalam and Hindi), ‘Kavalan’ (Tamil), ‘Ladies and Gentleman’, ‘Bhaskar the Rascal’, ‘Fukri’, and ‘Big Brother’.

Not only was Siddique a director and actor, but he was also associated with the vibrant mimicry scene in Kochi, being a member of Cochin Kalabhavan and Harishree, two of the most renowned mimicry troupes in the region.

Siddique’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a celebrated filmmaker, his partnership with Lal that brought laughter and entertainment to countless viewers, and his indelible contributions to Indian cinema leave behind a legacy that will be cherished for years to come.
