Prince Harry Returning to UK

Prince Harry is set to return to the United Kingdom in May to commemorate a milestone anniversary of the Invictus Games, the biennial sporting competition he established a decade ago.

Announced on Sunday, the Duke of Sussex will deliver a reading at a ceremony held at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, commemorating the 10-year milestone of the Invictus Games and its foundation.

Prince Harry’s last visit to his home country was in February, during a brief trip following the announcement of his father, King Charles’, cancer diagnosis. Reflecting on this, Harry later shared with ABC’s “Good Morning America” that he promptly traveled to see his father upon hearing the news. He expressed his gratitude for being able to spend time with his family, stating, “I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go see and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”

It remains uncertain whether the prince will meet with his relatives during his upcoming trip next month.

The duke and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, relocated to the United States in 2020. Since then, Harry, aged 39, has made several brief trips back to the UK, notably attending the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and his father’s coronation last year.

It remains uncertain whether Meghan will accompany her husband to the Invictus celebration. However, it may pose a challenge for the mother-of-two, as the event at St. Paul’s Cathedral coincides with Prince Archie’s fifth birthday on May 6.

Buckingham Palace disclosed that Charles, who is currently undergoing treatment, is scheduled to resume public-facing duties on Tuesday. His medical team reportedly expressed satisfaction with his progress and maintain optimism about his recovery.

His schedule will be meticulously managed, with decisions regarding his participation in events made closer to the time and in consultation with his medical team. The palace stated that the King will not undertake a full summer program. However, he is scheduled to host Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako for a state visit in June.

Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games after his deployment in Afghanistan. Their objective, as stated on the foundation’s website, is to aid in the recovery of wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans.
