President Zelenskiy says Trump has signalled support for Ukraine
In an interview released on Sunday, August 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy disclosed that former U.S. President Donald Trump has signaled his support for Ukraine. Zelenskiy revealed that Trump expressed a desire to end the ongoing war with Russia during their conversation.
The Ukrainian leader also mentioned that he had discussed the matter with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has expressed support for hosting a second peace summit aimed at resolving the conflict.
Trump, who is currently a Republican presidential candidate, is engaged in a closely contested race with Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the November 5 U.S. election. Despite his support for Ukraine, Trump has previously threatened a potential U.S. withdrawal from NATO and has criticized allied nations for not increasing their defense budgets.
