PM Modi emplanes for US; to participate in Quad Summit, address UN ‘Summit of Future
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant three-day visit to the United States on Saturday, aimed at strengthening international ties and addressing key global issues. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, announced the visit in a post on X, stating, “PM @narendramodi emplanes for USA to participate in the 6th Quad Leaders’ Summit and to address the UN ‘Summit of the Future.’”
In his departure statement, Modi expressed his intent, saying, “Today, I am embarking on a three-day visit to the United States of America to participate in the Quad Summit hosted by President Joe Biden in Wilmington and to address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly in New York.”
The visit will kick off with the annual Quad Summit in Wilmington, where Modi will join President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The leaders will discuss regional security and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, addressing pressing geopolitical challenges. Modi is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Biden on the same day, focusing on defense, trade, and strategic partnerships, with significant agreements anticipated.
On September 22, Modi will engage with the Indian diaspora at a community event in New York and participate in a Business Roundtable featuring top US CEOs from key sectors, including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.
The visit will conclude on September 23 at the United Nations, where Modi will attend the ‘Summit of the Future.’ This summit aims to tackle global multilateral challenges, with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar set to deliver the nation’s statement during the UN General Assembly debate.
This visit marks a pivotal moment for India as it seeks to enhance its strategic partnerships and address vital issues on the global stage.
