Pentagon reports China’s ongoing troop build-up and infrastructure work along the LAC.
China has maintained significant military deployments along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with India and is actively improving border infrastructure, including underground storage facilities, roads, dual-use villages, airfields, and helipads, according to the Pentagon’s latest annual report on China’s military power. The report also notes that China now possesses more than 500 operational nuclear warheads, exceeding previous estimates, and is on track to have over 1,000 warheads by 2030. The Pentagon highlights China’s rapid military modernization, enhancing its capabilities across various domains of warfare, in line with President Xi Jinping’s vision for a “world-class” military by 2049.
