The Paris 2024 Olympics concluded in spectacular fashion with a dazzling closing ceremony at the Stade De France, featuring a blend of athletic prowess and musical excellence.
Olympic legends took center stage as mountain biker Kate Courtney, track and field star Michael Johnson, and skateboarder Jagger Eaton graced the event. Courtney, Johnson, and Eaton each showcased their athletic excellence over the years, symbolizing the spirit and achievements of the Games.
In a musical highlight, pop sensation Billie Eilish, accompanied by her brother Finneas, delivered a heartfelt performance of her hit song “Birds of a Feather.” The crowd was electrified by the energy and emotion of the performance.
The ceremony also featured a legendary hip-hop performance by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. The duo performed their iconic hits, including the crowd-pleasing “The Next Episode” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” bringing an undeniable energy to the celebration.
As the event drew to a close, French swimmer Leon Marchand carried the Olympic flame into the Stade De France. In a poignant moment, International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach declared the Games officially closed, with Marchand extinguishing the flame. Bach invited the youth of the world to gather in Los Angeles in four years for the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad.
The ceremony concluded with a moving rendition of Frank Sinatra’s classic “My Way,” performed by French artist Yseult. The song, originally based on the French tune “Comme d’habitude,” resonated deeply with the audience. The night was capped off with a spectacular fireworks display over the stadium.
The United States emerged as the top performer of the Paris 2024 Games, leading the medal tally with a total of 126 medals, including 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze. China followed with 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze medals, totaling 91. Japan secured third place with 20 golds, 12 silver, and 13 bronze, amounting to 45 medals.
India, represented by a contingent of 117 athletes, finished in 71st place with a tally of six medals: one silver and five bronze.
As the world celebrated the closing of the Paris Olympics, the anticipation for Los Angeles 2028 began, promising another chapter of athletic and cultural brilliance.
