Operation Ajay: evacuation flight brings 212 Indians from strife-torn Israel to Delhi

The initial flight, carrying 212 Indians who had been stranded in Israel as part of the rescue mission Operation Ajay, touched down at Delhi airport in the early hours of Friday morning. This flight had departed from Ben Gurion airport on Thursday evening.

These flights have been organized to facilitate the return of people from Israel who found themselves trapped there during the Israel-Hamas conflict. Air India had suspended its flights on the day the conflict began, October 7, and its commercial operations remain halted.

Sources suggest that the first phase of these flights will operate until October 18, providing assistance to Indians looking to return home from Israel.

Upon their arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, the returnees from Israel were welcomed by Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar. This warm reception was captured in a video shared by the news outlet ANI on the social media platform X.
