The Caravan Tourism initiative begins with the idea of how individuals might plan a safe journey when they are unable to travel or go out. During this period, every traveller desires safe transportation, lodging, and food. The Caravan Tourism Project offers enormous hope and opportunity to those who have been unable to travel for a long time and have been forced to stay at home. Houseboats first appeared in Kerala in the 1980s. It was a brand-new product in the tourism industry. Kerala tourism is still dominated by houseboats.
It was not viable to introduce a new product subsequently as part of Kerala Tourism for a variety of reasons. Kerala Tourism’s latest product, following Houseboats, is the caravan. Caravan tourism is set to debut in Kerala on September 15, 2021. Many people from all around the world have indicated an interest in becoming a part of Caravan Tourism since then. So far, the tourism department has received 154 private-sector proposals for 303 caravans. Already, 67 people have applied for the first 100 caravan campsites.
The first caravan park in Kerala is being opened five months after the idea was announced. Vagamon, a popular tourist location in Kerala, will host the first caravan park. On February 25, Tourism Minister P A Muhammad Riyaz will open the Caravan Park to the public.
