Novak Djokovic withdraws from Paris Masters tournament
Serbian tennis icon Novak Djokovic has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Paris Masters tournament, expressing regret over missing the event. In a message shared on Instagram, Djokovic stated, “Unfortunately, I will not be playing at the @rolexparismasters this year. Sorry to everyone who was hoping to see me play there. Wishing all the players, sponsors, organisers, and fans a great tournament.” He added, “I have a lot of great memories from winning seven titles there and hope to be back with you next year.”
Djokovic, 37, is in pursuit of his 100th tour-level title and boasts a remarkable history at the Paris-Bercy event, where he has secured seven of his record-breaking 40 ATP Masters 1000 titles. He holds a stellar 50-9 win-loss record at the tournament and has won 18 of his last 19 matches there.
This season, Djokovic has a record of 37-9, with his most notable achievement being his victory over Carlos Alcaraz to claim the Olympic gold medal in Paris. Currently ranked sixth in the ATP Live Race to Turin, Djokovic is still in contention for direct qualification to the season-ending ATP Finals.
Earlier this month, world number one Jannik Sinner delivered a notable performance against Djokovic, defeating him 7-6(4), 6-3 in the Shanghai Masters final, marking Sinner’s seventh title of 2024 and making him the first player since Andy Murray in 2016 to secure more than six titles in a single year.
