North Korea set to blow up cross-border roads with South amid drone row, Seoul says

North Korea is reportedly gearing up to blow up roads that cross the heavily militarized border with South Korea, escalating tensions between the two nations. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on Monday that North Korean troops were observed camouflaging along the border, suggesting imminent preparations for demolition, potentially starting today.

This aggressive move follows a series of accusations exchanged between the two Koreas. Last week, North Korea’s Army declared plans to sever all roads and railways connecting it to the South and fortify positions along the border. This was reported by the North’s state media, KCNA.

The situation intensified when North Korea accused South Korea of deploying drones to disseminate anti-North Korean leaflets over its capital, Pyongyang. In response, North Korea announced on Sunday that it has placed eight fully armed artillery units at the border on standby to “open fire.”

As both nations remain on high alert, analysts warn that such provocations could lead to further military confrontations.
