Gramavrikshathile Kuyil, a 2022 Malayalam film directed by K P Kumaran and produced by Far Sight Media, stars Srevalsan J Menon, Pramod Raman, Gargi Ananthan, and Rahul Rajagopal in pivotal roles. Released  during year  2022, it marks the first cinematic portrayal of the esteemed poet Kumaran Asan, a prominent figure in Kerala’s literary and social landscape.

Amidst celebrations commemorating Mahakavi Kumaran Asan’s 150th birth anniversary, Gramavrikshathile Kuyil brings the poet’s life to the silver screen. Directed by KP Kumaran, the film features Sreevalsan J Menon portraying the revered poet, who was not only a disciple of Sree Narayana Guru but also a luminary in philosophy, social reform, and entrepreneurship.

Born in 1873 in Kaayikkaram, Asan’s journey mirrored the struggle for societal equality, transcending the shackles of caste.

Gramavrikshathile Kuyil unfolds the biographical narrative of Kumaran Asan, tracing his humble beginnings in the coastal village of Kayakkara to his ascent as one of the world’s greatest poets. KP Kumaran, known for his visionary contributions to Malayalam cinema, helms this project, infusing it with his trademark cinematic prowess.
