KKR star mid-match vs DC

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders continued their impressive performance by defeating Delhi Capitals, thereby solidifying their position in the second spot of the IPL points table. Spinner Varun Chakravarthy played a pivotal role, taking three crucial wickets, while Phil Salt’s impressive half-century contributed to Kolkata Knight Riders’ commanding seven-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals. Chakravarthy’s brilliance in the middle overs, supported by Vaibhav Arora’s excellent start, restricted Delhi to a modest total of 153/9 after Rishabh Pant chose to bat.

Spinner Varun Chakravarthy made an impact by securing three crucial wickets, setting the stage for Phil Salt’s remarkable half-century as Kolkata Knight Riders clinched a commanding seven-wicket triumph over Delhi Capitals in the IPL match held on Monday.

During the game, there was a moment of contention when Sunil Gavaskar expressed frustration over a decision made by KKR player Vaibhav Arora. It occurred on the final delivery of the 18th over, where Gavaskar believed Kuldeep Yadav was LBW, despite the ball appearing to be heading down the leg side. This prompted KKR captain Shreyas Iyer to opt for a review. The Decision Review System (DRS) conclusively revealed that the ball was indeed missing the stumps.

Sunil Gavaskar expressed his frustration, labeling the review decision as shocking and a waste. On air during the match, he emphasized the importance of considering the team’s situation and the partnership building at that moment. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sunil Narine achieved a milestone by surpassing Lasith Malinga’s record for the most wickets at a single venue in IPL history during Monday’s match.

Narine showcased his bowling prowess during Kolkata Knight Riders’ victory against Delhi Capitals, delivering an impressive spell of 1/24 in his four overs. His notable performance included taking the wicket of Axar Patel in the first innings. This achievement marked Narine’s 69th wicket at the iconic Eden Gardens in the IPL, establishing a new record for the most wickets by a bowler at a single venue in the cash-rich league.

Before Sunil Narine, Lasith Malinga held the record with an impressive 68 wickets at Wankhede Stadium, accumulated during his prolific IPL career. Following Narine’s achievement, veteran spinner Amit Mishra occupies the third position with 58 wickets at Delhi’s venue. Former Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Yuzvendra Chahal secures the fourth spot with 52 wickets at Bengaluru’s venue. In the fifth position is former India spinner Harbhajan Singh, who claimed 49 scalps at Wankhede Stadium.
