Jill Biden inspired students
Jill Biden, speaking to graduates of Mesa Community College in Arizona, urged them to ignore naysayers and shared her own experience of defying discouragement from her high school counselor.
Despite being told she wasn’t college material, she pursued and earned not only one but four degrees, including a doctorate at age 55, all while juggling parenting and a full-time job. With over three decades of teaching experience, she has been teaching English and writing at Northern Virginia Community College since 2009.
Jill Biden urged the graduates to silence the voices of doubt and reflect on the obstacles they conquered to reach graduation day. She emphasized that beyond the word “can’t” lies the richness of life’s experiences and the potential for positive transformation.
Drawing from her prepared remarks, she assured the graduates that they are equipped to embrace life’s adventures and its potential for growth and fulfillment.
Jill Biden encouraged the graduates to embrace their strength and resilience, urging them not to fear the unknown. She advised them to anticipate the unexpected, take bold risks, seize moments of joy, and share their stories with kindness and love.
She inspired them to dream big, embark on adventures, and maintain the courage to say “yes” to new opportunities. Referring to the college’s thunderbird mascot and slogan, she urged the Class of 2024 to make their presence known and to let their impact be felt.
Finally, she empowered them to confidently defy doubters by responding with determination and resolve: “Oh yeah?…Watch me.”
