Jannik Sinner withdraws from Paris masters due to virus

In a disappointing turn of events for tennis fans, world number one Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Paris Masters, citing a virus that has left him unfit to compete. The announcement was made on Tuesday, just days after Sinner claimed victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Saudi Arabia, where he earned a staggering $6 million.

In a video message shared by the tournament organizers, the 23-year-old expressed his disappointment: “I’m very sorry to tell you that I am not able to play here at this tournament. I came here very early to prepare and then I felt sick. I have a virus at the moment, which will pass in the next two or three days. Body-wise, I am not ready to compete.”

Sinner’s withdrawal leaves a significant gap in the draw, which will now see Frenchman Arthur Cazaux take his place. The Paris Masters, running from October 28 to November 3, is the final ATP Masters 1000 event of the season.

This news follows a similar announcement from 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, who also pulled out of the tournament last week, further altering the landscape of this prestigious event.

Sinner concluded his message with optimism for the future, saying, “I will see you guys in Paris next year. Hopefully, it will be a great year. And this year – without me. Hopefully, I’ll see you next year.” Fans and fellow competitors alike will undoubtedly miss his presence at the tournament this year.
