Indian man killed in Israel missile attack
Jerusalem : In a devastating incident, an Indian national lost his life, while two others sustained injuries in a missile attack near the northern border community of Margaliot in Israel. The attack occurred at around 11 am on Monday when an anti-tank missile, reportedly fired from Lebanon, struck an orchard in Margaliot.
The victim, identified as Patnibin Maxwell from Kollam in the southern state of Kerala, tragically lost his life. His body was identified at Ziv Hospital. Two others, Bush Joseph George and Paul Melvin, also hailing from Kerala, were injured and promptly taken to hospitals for treatment.
George, who suffered injuries to his face and body, underwent a successful operation at Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikva and is currently in stable condition. Melvin, with slight injuries, is hospitalized at Ziv Hospital in Safed.
The attack, believed to be carried out by the Shi’ite Hezbollah faction in Lebanon, targeted Margaliot in the Galilee region. The ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has seen frequent rocket and missile attacks, with this incident being the latest in a series since October 8.
Magen David Adom (MDA), the rescue services spokesperson, reported that a total of seven foreign workers were injured in the attack, with two in serious condition. They were transported to Beilinson, Rambam, and Ziv hospitals using ambulances and Israeli Air Force helicopters.
In response to the missile attack, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shelled the launch site with artillery. Additionally, IDF targeted a Hezbollah compound in southern Lebanon’s Chihine town and another site in Ayta ash-Shab.
The recent clashes between Israel and Hezbollah have resulted in casualties on both sides, including civilians and military personnel. The IDF remains active in responding to such attacks, aiming to safeguard its borders and communities.
The situation is evolving, and further updates on the developments in the region are awaited. The international community closely monitors the ongoing conflicts, emphasizing the need for diplomatic solutions to ensure regional stability.
