India, Romania celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties with release of commemorative stamps
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar unveiled joint commemorative stamps on Tuesday, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Romania. The ceremony took place in the national capital, with Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Romanian Ambassador to India, Daniela-Mariana Sezonov, in attendance.
In a post on X, Jaishankar emphasized that the stamps symbolize the deep bonds of friendship and cooperation that have flourished between the two countries since they established diplomatic ties in 1948. He described the stamps as a fitting tribute to the milestone anniversary.
According to a press release from the Ministry of External Affairs, the stamps reflect the enduring partnership and shared values that have characterized the bilateral relationship over the decades. This release coincides with broader celebrations commemorating both the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of their extensive partnership, as outlined in a Joint Declaration earlier this year.
Jaishankar also highlighted Romania’s strategic importance within the context of India-Europe relations, noting ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity between India and Europe, particularly through the planned India-Middle-East-Europe corridor. He stressed that Romania’s geographic location is vital to these trade routes, and strengthening these connections remains a priority for India.
Union Minister Scindia and Ambassador Sezonov echoed the sentiment, underscoring the significance of such milestones in reinforcing the historical and cultural ties that unite India and Romania.
