India launches operation Sadbhav to aid Laos amidst typhoon Yagi aftermath

In response to the devastating impacts of Typhoon Yagi, which has ravaged northern Laos, India has initiated Operation Sadbhav to deliver critical humanitarian aid. The severe flooding and landslides from the typhoon have impacted nearly 40,000 people, causing extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and agricultural lands.

As part of this operation, India has dispatched ten tonnes of essential relief supplies to Laos. The aid package, transported via a special aircraft, includes hygiene kits, blankets, mosquito nets and repellents, sleeping bags, generators, water purifiers, purification tablets, disinfectants, and other crucial materials.

This swift action underscores India’s role as a key provider of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) in the region. Operation Sadbhav reflects India’s commitment to its ‘Act East Policy,’ reinforcing its dedication to humanitarian efforts within the ASEAN region.
