A blood sugar risk assessment feature is available on the new Huawei Watch 4 and Huawei Watch 4 Pro. The new capability is demonstrated in a video that was shared on Weibo by Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer division. He asserted that the Huawei Watch 4 series is the first wristwatch in the market to facilitate studies on high blood sugar risk assessment. According to the video, a wearer’s smartwatch will show the words “Excessive intake of high-sugar, high-oil, and high-fat diets may lead to increased risk of high blood sugar” when their blood sugar is high.

Huawei is currently making this capability available to a select group of people who want to take part in the study on hyperglycemia risk assessment that Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and China Healthcare International Exchange Promotion Association jointly began. The wearable will incorporate data day and night thanks to Huawei TruSeenTM 5.0 technology. To receive hyperglycemia notifications on their wrists, users must wear the watch for more than seven days in a row. Personalised recommendations based on the user’s estimated risk levels will be offered by the wearable as well.

The micro-physical examination feature on the Huawei Watch 4 and Huawei Watch 4 Pro can measure 10 health markers in 60 seconds. Although it has not been confirmed, the high blood sugar alarms function might be accessible right now in China.

Apple and Samsung have not yet released wearables with functionality for monitoring customers’ blood sugar levels. A blood sugar monitoring app for the Apple Watch has long been believed to be in development by the Cupertino behemoth.
