Finland and Estonia PMs support Ukraine’s incursion into Russia
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal affirmed Ukraine’s right to self-defense and its military operation in Russia’s Kursk region at a joint press conference in Helsinki on Wednesday.
Orpo stated, “Ukraine has the right to self-defense and it’s clear that they can conduct their operation in Kursk.” Michal echoed this sentiment, expressing full support for Ukraine’s efforts to liberate its territory.
The comments come following a significant escalation in the conflict. On August 6, thousands of Ukrainian troops breached the Russian border, advancing into Kursk. Despite President Vladimir Putin’s assurances that the Russian army would repel the intruders, intense fighting has continued without a definitive resolution.
The situation remains volatile as Ukrainian forces hold positions within the Kursk region, and the international community watches closely.
