Fans confuse Alia Bhatt for Deepika

Bollywood star Alia Bhatt turned heads at the Met Gala 2024 with her stunning presence in an elegant Sabyasachi sari. Stepping onto the green carpet in the floral ensemble, complete with an impressive 23-foot train, she garnered admiration from both fellow attendees and the online community.

In a circulating video, a tweet alleged that some foreign media mistakenly identified Alia as Deepika Padukone while she ascended the iconic stairs. “Can you believe the paparazzi mistook her for Deepika?” read the tweet.

However, fans swiftly intervened, claiming the video was altered. They promptly shared the original footage, showing paparazzi correctly addressing Alia. Reacting to the debunked clip, one fan emphasized, “Believe me, in the authentic video, not a single person confused her name.”

Another fan shared the unedited video of Alia’s carpet appearance, affirming, “Here’s the genuine footage… They were all calling out Alia’s name.”

Following the circulation of the video, several fan accounts expressed outrage, with one urging others to report the account for “spreading false information.”

This incident occurred shortly after reports surfaced of Deepfake photos featuring Katy Perry and Rihanna at the Met Gala circulating online. These AI-generated images, depicting the stars’ supposed appearances at the prestigious event, managed to deceive some fans.

However, astute social media users noticed discrepancies, and platforms like X’s Community Notes quickly flagged the images as likely being created using artificial intelligence. Katy Perry also took to her own social media platform to share the fabricated images, alerting fans and even her mother that she had not attended the gala and that the images were the result of AI manipulation.
