Deepika’s pink gown
Deepika Padukone made a stunning appearance at the Met Gala 2019, donning a futuristic gown reminiscent of a blend between Barbie and a Disney princess, perfectly in line with the theme ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’. Her mesmerizing ensemble featured a never-ending train that added to the ethereal charm. Deepika effortlessly embodied the dreamy aesthetic of the event, earning praise even from her husband, actor Ranveer Singh, who couldn’t resist commenting on her doll-like appearance.
Deepika Padukone, who garnered global acclaim with her role in the Hollywood film xXx: Return of Xander Cage in 2017, captivated audiences once again when she appeared in a stunning pink strapless gown at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in May 2019. In response to one of her Instagram posts from the event, Ranveer wrote, “Come on Barbie, let’s go party…” His playful comment was a playful nod to the hit 1997 track “Barbie Girl” by Aqua, perfectly capturing the whimsical essence of Deepika’s look.
Ranveer couldn’t contain his admiration for Deepika, leaving adorable comments on several of her Instagram photos. Reacting to a post by Deepika’s stylist Shaleena Nathani, he wrote, “LOVE IT!!!!! Smashing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” accompanied by about a dozen heart emojis. Shaleena affectionately described Deepika’s look as ‘Camp Barbie’, capturing the essence of her glamorous appearance.
For the after-party, Deepika opted for a body-hugging neon green dress paired with a black printed pullover and high heels, completing the look with blue earrings. She was spotted enjoying herself with actors Priyanka Chopra and Nina Dobrev, as well as fashion designer Prabal Gurung at the after-party.
Deepika and Ranveer exchanged vows in 2018 in a private ceremony held at the picturesque Lake Como, Italy. The couple sealed their union with a traditional Konkani ceremony on November 14, 2018, followed by an Anand Karaj ceremony on November 15. They subsequently hosted two receptions in India, the first in Bengaluru, Deepika’s hometown, and the second for their Bollywood friends in Mumbai.
