Chennai mourns Daniel Balaji
The Tamil film industry is in mourning following the untimely demise of popular actor Daniel Balaji, who passed away at the age of 48. Reports indicate that the actor succumbed to a heart attack on Friday night while receiving treatment at a hospital in Chennai.
Born in 1975, Daniel Balaji embarked on his journey in the film world as the production unit manager for Kamal Haasan’s film ‘Marudhanayagam’. Over the years, he showcased his talent not only on the big screen but also in television serials. His versatility extended beyond Tamil cinema, as he also made notable appearances in Malayalam and Kannada films.
Daniel Balaji etched memorable performances in several blockbuster Tamil movies, including ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’, ‘Vada Chennai’, ‘Maayavan’, and ‘Bhairava’. His contributions to Malayalam cinema were equally commendable.

Daniel Balaji’s notable role in Goutham Vasudev Menon’s ‘Kaakha Kaakha’, alongside Suriya, remains etched in the memories of fans. He breathed his last at the hospital in Kottivakam, Chennai, where he was admitted due to severe chest pain. Funeral arrangements have been made to lay him to rest at his residence in Purasaiwalkam.
