National award-winning filmmaker Blessy, who entered the film industry as a teenager, has opened up about his early days and his mentor, the iconic filmmaker P. Padmarajan. Blessy began assisting Padmarajan at the age of 18 and considers him his ‘guru.’

In an interview with The New Indian Express, Blessy stated, “No doubt, it’s Padmarajan sir…” He elaborated on his desire to make his mentor proud, saying, “I experience his presence a lot during shoots. When we plan a project, before starting its shooting, the prayer in my mind is that the film shouldn’t turn out to be an embarrassment for ‘sir’ (Padmarajan) in my capacity as his disciple.”

Blessy also mentioned that ‘Oridathoru Phayalvaan’ is his favorite film by Padmarajan and expressed pride in having assisted him. He recalled working with other notable filmmakers like AK Lohithadas and Jayaraj.

Currently enjoying the success of his latest survival drama ‘Aadujeevitham,’ based on the best-selling novel by Benyamin and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Blessy’s film has grossed nearly Rs 160 crore worldwide.
