Bangladesh clinches SAFF women’s championship title with 2-1 victory over Nepal

In an exhilarating final at Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday, Bangladesh emerged victorious in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship, defeating Nepal 2-1 to secure the title for the second time.

The match was a fierce battle, with both teams displaying determination and skill. Bangladesh found the back of the net in the second half, with Monika Chakma and Ritu Porna Chakma delivering crucial goals that ultimately sealed the victory. Despite a strong effort from Nepal, who managed to score once, they could not find the equalizer as Bangladesh’s defense held firm under pressure.

Bangladesh’s path to the final was marked by resilience, starting with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Pakistan, followed by a remarkable 3-1 victory over five-time champions India, positioning them at the top of their group. This championship victory underscores Bangladesh’s growing prominence in women’s football within the region.
