Australian hockey player banned for attempted cocaine purchase at Paris Olympics
Australian Olympic hockey player Tom Craig has been handed a 12-month ban by Hockey Australia (HA) following an investigation into his arrest on suspicion of attempting to purchase cocaine during the Paris 2024 Olympics. The ban, effective from Monday, includes a six-month suspension to be served fully, with the remaining six months suspended contingent on compliance with conduct and behavioral requirements.
The decision follows an inquiry by HA’s integrity unit into Craig’s arrest last month. In addition to the suspension, Craig is mandated to complete mandatory training and educational programs as stipulated by HA.
The 29-year-old Craig has represented Australia in over 100 games and was a key player in the team that won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
