Argentina thrashes Bolivia 6-0 as Messi shines with hat-trick
In a stunning display of football, Lionel Messi led Argentina to a commanding 6-0 victory over Bolivia in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup at the Monumental Stadium on Tuesday. Just two minutes later, Messi completed his hat-trick with a left-footed drive, equaling Cristiano Ronaldo for the most international hat-tricks in men’s football, and bringing his total to 112 goals for Argentina.
“It’s really nice to come here, to feel the affection of the people; it moves me how they shout my name,” Messi remarked after the match. “As long as I feel good and can keep performing, I’ll keep enjoying it.”
With this victory, Argentina sits atop the standings with 22 points, rebounding strongly after a recent defeat and draw. The road to the 2026 World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, looks promising for Messi and his teammates as they continue their qualifying campaign.
