These reports align with earlier statements from Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, who previously mentioned that Apple had experimented with a darker finish for the existing Watch Ultra but ultimately did not launch it. There is speculation that this darker finish might make an appearance in the next iteration.
In addition to the new finish, Gurman also revealed that the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra is projected to feature a faster S9 chip. This upgraded chip is said to be based on the A15 Bionic SoC, which is currently powering the iPhone 13 series and standard iPhone 14 models.
Further rumors suggest that Apple might introduce a fifth color option for the Apple Watch Series 9 – a shade of pink. This option could be available in both 41mm and 45mm watch sizes, featuring an aluminum finish. Renderings of this potential color were also shared by the source. Lastly, Apple might adopt a more environmentally friendly approach by shipping the upcoming Apple Watch Series 9 in a more compact box to reduce its ecological footprint.
