Airline to reward Employees
Singapore Airlines recently announced it will reward its employees with a bonus equivalent to eight months’ salary, according to CNN. The company reported a record net profit of $1.98 billion for the fiscal year 2023-2024. The airline’s financial statement attributed this success to strong demand for air travel, boosted by North Asia’s recovery as China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan fully reopened their borders after the pandemic.
Last year, Singapore Airlines was named the best airline in the world by the Skytrax World Airline Awards, marking the sixth time it has received this top honor in the awards’ 23-year history.
Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong credited the team’s hard work and sacrifices for the company’s success, stating they ensured “SIA was ready for the recovery in air travel,” which allowed the airline to “emerge stronger and fitter from the pandemic.”
Similarly, the Emirates Group recently announced record-breaking profits and will reward its employees with bonuses equivalent to 20 weeks’ pay, to be included with their May paychecks.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, expressed gratitude to the Emirates Group staff for their “heroic efforts” in an email obtained by Khaleej Times. He commended their dedication, stating, “for powering our collective ambitions and for achieving them, you deserve every dirham of the 20-week profit share.”
Emirates and Dnata both saw significant improvements in profit and sales over the past year. The group’s total employment increased by 10% to 112,406, the highest in its history. These employees come from over 170 nationalities and are based in 84 countries.
