Actors Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi from Malayalam have been blacklisted by the Keralan film industry.
FEFKA and Kerala Film Producers’ Association have banned Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi as a result of certain serious claims made by the producers.
Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi have frequently made headlines for the incorrect reasons, and this time they are involved in yet another dispute. Both actors have been prohibited by the Kerala Film Producers Association and the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) as a result of several claims made by producers. This decision was made on April 25 in Kochi following a meeting between FEKKA, the producers’ association, and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).
SREENATH BHASI CONTROVERSIES
Sreenath Bhasi was detained in September 2022 after allegedly abusing a female anchor while under the influence of drugs. He was promoting his movie Chattambi when he requested them to stop filming because he found some of the questions that the female YouTube channel presenter was asking to be offensive. Off camera, he is said to have abused the film team and refused to accept responsibility for his actions.
Following the channel’s police report, he was detained under IPC sections 354 A (making sexually explicit statements), 294 B (uttering profane words in or near any public place), and 509 (using a word or gesture that is meant to offend a woman’s modesty). Later, he was granted bail and had to make a formal apology.
The producers have now claimed that Sreenath has consistently provided the same dates for multiple films, costing them money. To date, the actor has not made any statements regarding the ban.
SHANE NIGAM QUESTIONS
Over the past three years, the actor Shane Nigam has frequently made headlines for the incorrect reasons. He was prohibited in 2019 by the Kerala Film Producers Association because he changed his haircut while filming Veyil. After an argument with Joby George, the movie’s producer, Shane claimed that George had threatened to murder him. Since he had also caused financial loss to the producers of Veyil and Qurubani, the producers organisation banned him for insubordination.
Shane Nigam recently made a mess on the RDX sets when he quit the shoot, leaving the other actors and staff stranded. According to reports, he walked away from a scene because he felt undervalued.
Shane Nigam left Instagram, but his co-star Anthony Varghese shared the pack-up video from RDX, in which we can see the team encouraging producer Sophia Paul and director Nahas Hidayath.
